CA Tanzania envisions a country in which all children, youth and young adults with autism and co-occurring conditions are supported by a society that works to ensure they are able to live with dignity, participate in a quality of life, and strive for a bright future.
Connects Autism Tanzania (CA Tanzania), a parent driven Tanzanian NGO, began in 2010 as Autism Connects Tanzania, a group of parents and community members who came together to learn more about autism and share their experiences. Today CA Tanzania has extended its reach across Tanzania to strengthen the network of those who are impacted by or who work in the field of intellectual disability.
Through a variety of activities, CA Tanzania actively encourages government agencies, stakeholders, nongovernmental organizations, teachers, healthcare workers and development partners to address the needs of people with autism and co-occurring conditions. Its networking and programs all act to reduce the stigma of intellectual disability in order to create greater acceptance of this population and promote its independence.
We look forward to the day that Tanzanians with autism can themselves assume leadership roles within CA Tanzania and use the organization as a platform to express their own equal voice.
