In March CAT was approached by various mothers of children with cerebral palsy about an event they were organizing to raise awareness about disabilities in Arusha. CAT was asked to help support the parents group by bringing our network to the event and speaking at their seminar about disabilities. It was a great honor to meet other strong Tanzania mothers looking to fight for change for disability rights. There were 170 parents/caregivers and their kids attended the event and learned about strategies while children were able to get their face painted and watch acrobatics show. We are excited about the partnership with this group and the opportunities to work together in the future.

In March, Tanzania recognized the 35 amazing Special Olympic athletes from Arusha who participated in the East African competitions in Zanzibar. Athletes were awarded with medals and honored donors with certificates of appreciation for their contributions. CAT was humbled to be invited to help honor these amazing individuals. In November 2017 Connects Autism worked together with Arusha districts to help find support to help these youths to participate in this event in Zanzibar and are excited that 3 of them were selected to represent Tanzania in the International Special Olympics September 2018 in Abu Dhabi.
